Stone and ceramic looks, without the cold floor or cracked grout

Luxury vinyl tile is built to be mistaken for the real thing - travertine, slate, marble, or classic ceramic - while staying soft underfoot and fully waterproof. Because our roots are in tile and natural stone (Guadalupe Martinez spent 30-plus years setting it before she and Ulysses started Flooring and Stone of Denton), we know exactly which LVT patterns and grout-look seams actually pass for the stone they're imitating, and which ones look obviously fake up close.

It's a good fit anywhere real stone or ceramic would traditionally go - entryways, kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms - but without the maintenance headaches those materials bring.

Grouted, ungrouted, or click - we'll walk you through it

The install method changes the look and the budget, and it's worth understanding before you pick a plank.

  • Grouted LVT - real grout lines, reads as ceramic even up close, best for kitchens and baths
  • Ungrouted / tight-seam LVT - cleaner sightlines, easier upkeep, popular for whole-house consistency
  • Click LVT - floats over the subfloor, faster turnaround, good for basements and rentals
  • Glue-down LVT - the most solid, quietest feel underfoot, our go-to for busy households

Why LVT holds up better than real tile in this climate

Grouted ceramic and natural stone are rigid, and North Texas's clay-heavy soil doesn't sit still - it swells with rain and shrinks in a dry August, which is exactly the kind of slow movement that opens hairline cracks in grout over the years. LVT's grout lines are a flexible, sealed compound designed to move with the floor instead of fighting it, so you get the same look without babysitting it every year.

It's also considerably warmer and quieter to stand on than real stone or porcelain, which matters if you're on it every morning making coffee.

Why LVT holds up better than real tile in this climate

How we install it

We flatten the subfloor first - LVT shows every dip if you skip that step - then dry-lay the full pattern so you can approve placement before anything is set permanently. If you're weighing LVT against the real thing, take a look at our [porcelain tile](/porcelain-tile) and [natural stone tile](/natural-stone-tile) pages, or browse the full [tile flooring](/tile-flooring) lineup; we install and sell both, so there's no sales pressure toward one over the other.

How we install it

Vinyl Floor Tiles - frequently asked questions

Close enough that most guests can't tell without touching it. The grout lines are set at real tile widths and the surface texture is embossed to match, so the visual read is very close to true ceramic.

It's a flexible, sealed polymer grout rather than rigid cement, so it's designed to handle normal seasonal floor movement without the hairline cracking you'd see in traditional tile grout.

Yes - it's one of the best applications. Fully waterproof, warmer and less slippery than porcelain, and far more forgiving if you drop something on it.

It costs less to install and maintain, but real stone or porcelain still has a place for homeowners who want the authentic material. We install both and will give you an honest comparison during your [free estimate](/free-estimate) rather than steering you one way.
